POSSIBLE COLLABORATIONS: EPISODE ONE NICKI MINAJ AND SIA
Possible Collaborations
Episode 1
By Solomon Obi
There are a lot of artistes whose collaboration with each other could create something new, dynamic and great to the music industry. The music produced from such endeavors could result to international success stories or as they say ‘hits’ if such individuals could come together they could live to the recent testimonies we have had over the years like Imagine dragons and Kendrick Lamar’s radioactive, Drake, Wizkid and Kyla’s One dance, The weeknd and Daft punk’s Starboy and recently DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper and Lil Wayne feat on I’m The One.
So we shall be profiling a possible collaboration between Nicki Minaj and Sia. So now let’s have an over view of their profiles.
Nicki minaj
Onika Tanya Maraj was born on December 8, 1982, known professionally as Nicki Minaj is a Trinidadian-born American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago and raised in South Jamaica, Queens , New York, Minaj earned public attention after releasing three mixtapes between 2007 and 2009. She has been signed to Young Money Entertainment since 2009. Minaj's first and second studio albums, Pink Friday (2010) and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012), both peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and produced the successful singles " Super Bass " and" Starships ", respectively. In 2010, Minaj became the first female solo artist to have seven singles simultaneously charting on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Her third studio album, The Pinkprint (2014), was preceded by its second single, “Anaconda", which peaked at number two on the Hot 100 and is her highest- charting single in the U.S. to date.
Sia
Sia Kate Isobelle Furler was on born 18 December 1975, referred to mononymously as Sia, is an Australian singer, songwriter, record producer and video music director. She started her career as a singer in the local Adelaide acid jazz band Crisp in themid-1990s. In 1997, when Crisp disbanded, she released her debut studio album titled OnlySee in Australia. She then moved to London, England, and provided lead vocals for the British duo Zero 7. In 2000, Sia signed to Sony Music’s sub-label Dance Pool and released her second studio album, Healing Is Difficult, the following year. Displeased with the promotion of the record, she signed to Go! Beat and released her third studio album, Color the Small One, in 2004. The project struggled to connect with a mainstream audience, and so Sia relocated to New York City in 2005 and began touring across the United States.
Their genre of music is another thing to consider and here are their various genres which are below,
Nicki minaj
Hip hop and pop.
Sia
Pop, electro pop, indie pop, trip hop and acid jazz.
So now to the final segment, my opinion about a possible collaboration between these two great artistes.
Nicki minaj is a great rap artist, whose lyrics, style and sex appeal could bring a lot to bear, should there be any collaboration with Sia in the not too distant future. She is a rapper that goes hard core and soft core when it is needed and if possible could blend the music with her pop sound which will captivate and move the audience.
While Sia is an artist with a unique sound, style and flavor which could bring a lot to bear should there be any possible collaboration with Nicki minaj in times to come. She is a songwriter, who literally pours her soul in writing any song whether for herself or for another artiste.
She with her pop, pop varieties and acid jazz could give the song the extra boost , flavor to Nicki minaj’s rap lyrics combine that together we have a unique blend of Hip hop, pop and jazz, which is what I call a musical dish out.
Thanks for reading, this is clearly my opinion and I hope it is considerable to you all. Peace. #
