Top Five Nigerian Movies of 2017

The Year 2017 has seen quite a number of outstanding, good average and mediocre film productions, though the Nigerian movie industry being the third most valuable film industry in the world, had a big cinema outing in 2017; both in Nigeria and beyond with movies grossing millions of naira in the box office.
The year 2017 has been great for Nigerian movie makers and enthusiasts in general. Below are the top five Nigerian Movies we compiled
1) Omugwo
This Movie by Ace Film Maker, Kunle Afolyan had a successful run both in the cinema and box office, as it made N45 million. It stars Ken Erics, Omowunmi Dada, Ayo Adesanya and Patience Ozokwor.
In the comedy movie, Omotunde a young civil engineer married to Raymond an OAP (On Air Radio Personality), has just given birth. Their mothers-in-law forcefully move in with the couple to perform the Igbo child care rite called, “Omugwo”. But instead of relieving their children of the burden of childcare, the mothers’ rivalry complicates life for the couple.
This movie was released on the 7th of April, 2017.

Plot: This sequel focuses on Dozie’s (Banky Wellington) brother, Nonso (Enyinna Nwigwe), who has continued his romance with Deirdre (Daniella Down), Dunni’s (Adesua Etomi) bridesmaid. Nonso takes Deirde on a date in Dubai and proposes marriage by accident. After a disastrous traditional engagement ceremony in Lagos, Nonso’s family and Deirdre’s British family reluctantly agree to a wedding in Dubai.

4) Slow Country
This movie by Eric Aghimien is a hybrid of romance and action that follows the story of a homeless teenage mother, Kome who finds herself trapped in prostitution and drug trafficking for seven years in order to secure a good life for her son. On the basis of stunts and special effects, this movie is a visual delight. Every movie has a moral lesson but “Slow Country”, is not one of such.
It is just simply a well made action thriller that highlights the plight of some single mothers and prostitutes.
5) Ojukokoro
Dare Olaitan’s movie “Ojukokoro” captures the brutality that comes with violence and still finds a way to play it simultaneously with funny scenarios and witty conservations. This movie features an ensemble cast that inadvertently merges together to give viewers a clear understanding of their different characters.
Embedded with violence and humour, the comedy/crime heist is about a money strapped manager of a shady Petrol Station, who decides to rob his employers, but along the line finds out in a sudden twist that her is not alone in his ambition, is indeed an entertaining watch.
